Teras Kaca Pantai Nguluran
After seeing the sun rise in the Pengkok village area, Patuk Subdistrict, Gunungkidul Regency precisely on Mount Ireng, and having breakfast at a warkop formed like a hut around the mountain, the tour guide — Mr. Sugeng — took us to the Glass Terrace of Nguluran Beach. By using his car we traveled 46 kilometers in one hour eleven minutes. We arrived at the location at exactly eight o’clock so we had to wait because the Glass Terrace opens at nine. Mr. Sugeng ushered us into one of the stalls while waiting. The shop provides a lot of food, not just snacks like Pop Mie. However our stomachs were full and therefore we only ordered two coconuts to quench our thirst. The shop owner’s seemed close with Mr. Sugeng, because she allowed us to pay after we were already took a look at the Glass Terrace. The owner’s shop said to entranced the Glass Terrace must fast, because if come little later than 9 o’clock the queues can be very crowded. Now the time was nine o’clock. The gate to the entrance ticket was opened. We followed the advice of the shop owner. After thanking to her we were delighted to enter the Glass Terrace.
The ticket costs five thousand rupiah, but that does not include a ticket for taking photos. The beach breeze welcomed us. A very wide range blue sea enchanted us. We walked while enjoying some free photo spots. There are posters showed some paid photo spots. They are beautiful and worth to captured with camera because they are located at the edge of a cliff a few meters far from sea level. The weather was quite sunny, the sea cheerfully bumped rocks. The sound of the waves did not reach our ears, but it did not coverth beauty of the sea. We arrived at the second ticket counter. A place to pay photo spots that you wanted to visited. My family wanted a photo on a glass terrace, but that’s not included me. When I saw the poster on the way here, I was tempted to play Jogjakarta Swing, but unfortunately my courage to asked mama a ticket to the Jogja Swing arena was shrink. By the way, for the Glass Terrace ticket price is IDR 20,000.
We walked into the Glass Terrace. Even though we came with group, still one person was charged with one ticket. The ticket for our initial sequence was number 41. There were many people who wanted to took photo on Glass Terrace. Several times I glanced at Jogja Swing. Compared to the Glass Terrace seemed that place was less popular. My heart runs blood throughout my body so fast made some sweat runs down my face. I wanted to try Jogja Swing, but afraid. The sea looks scary instantaneously. But my Mom said this to me, why weren’t you try while you were in Jogja rather than later feel regret after in Jakarta? Finally, I ventured to buy a ticket for Rp 50,000 for Jogja Swing. I got turn number two. When the guard called my number i felt my whole body turn weak. I entered the Jogja Swing spot with all anxieties and I’ll death soon thought. Seat belts were attached by officers to all my body.
First of all I need to relax, said the Officer. My body must lean towards safety—which i can feel it very loose— I was not allowed to sit upright because it was prone to falling. I was told to trust a security that seemed unconvincing.
The officer said there would be 8 encouraging sessions. 4 sessions staring at the mainland and 4 sessions staring at the ocean. My sandals have been removed for safety. The officer began to swing the rope, for God’s sake it felt like he wanted me to die, but then he pushed me slowly like what I told him. Okay, I know I can do this.
I felt the second push started fast. Oh Gosh i can feel soon my heart loose from sockets. The clerk told me to take my hands off from swing rope grip. I was about to be photographed by Mama. I shook my head tightly. It took several times I refused the officer until my mother came to me and said so and I did it. I CAN TELL THE OFFICER TIGHTEN THE SWING DRIVE BECAUSE OF THAT. AGAIN. I counted his urge. It’s been over 4x and I didn’t ask for a sea-facing session. My turn have finished. However, the crazy officer told me to turn face the sea. I didn’t want but my mom kept gave me courage to do it. Okay, I deal with it.
The first thing I thought about when I turned around my body was, why the sea waves were look malignant, why the distance between the cliffs and the surface of the sea was wide, why did I agree to turn around after I had the thought the facing the sea version was as easy as facing land?
The pictures were taken not by mama anymore but the officer. I had forgotten how many push sessions already, but what was I assumed the clerk had left my swinging rope lying helplessly on the ground. And, I was told to took a photo of the pose to let go of the swing handle. Again.
